How it works
Meet someone who means it.
You want marriage. So does the person you are introduced to. paMuhacha exists so serious people meet in a safe space - properly, and without anyone wasting anyone's time. An aunt stands between the two of you to make that possible.
The path
From your door to the tree.
You say who you are
You tell your side, add three photos, take the personality test, and say in your own words what you want. Entering is free.
You are taken seriously
The aunt takes your background and sits with you in a real interview. It means the person you meet has been through the same - real, and serious about marriage. No games, and no time wasted.
You meet someone who fits
The introduction is made only when two people genuinely fit. What is open is shared; what is private stays with the aunt until the moment is right. You meet knowing someone stood behind it.
You are not left to it
The aunt does not vanish once you have met. There is a check-in and counselling, so ordinary early friction is settled before it hardens.
Why there is a third person
The aunt is the matchmaker.
Not a moderator, not an administrator, not a feature we added - in a southern African family she is the one who does this work, and she has always done it. When a marriage was to be considered, it went through her. She asked, she weighed, she carried word between two families, and she stayed after the introduction was made. paMuhacha does not invent a role. It gives the aunt her seat back, and does the asking the way she would.
She takes the background
Lineage, faith, temperament and the real household economy - asked properly, in conversation, the way an aunt always has.
She does the interview
A real conversation confirms you are genuine and serious. This is how time-wasters fall away, on both sides.
She stays for the counselling
After the introduction she is still there - a check-in and guidance while the two of you find your feet.
Every aunt is a married woman, vetted and trained for the role before she carries anyone. Become an aunt ›
Your choice
One shared aunt, or an aunt each.
Families do this two ways, so paMuhacha does too. You choose.
One shared aunt
A single aunt carries both of you - background, introduction and counselling - holding the whole thread.
An aunt each
You each keep your own aunt, and the two aunts speak to one another the traditional way.
Open and held
What the other person sees - and what waits.
Some things should be known early. Others are the aunt's to release when the moment is right. Nothing sensitive is thrown onto a screen.
Open
Your profession, age, the plain facts of appearance, and how you are with cooking and home. The ordinary things two people should simply know.
Held by the aunt
Income and assets. Collected honestly, seen only by the aunt, and released to the other person when she judges it is right - not before.
Questions

Why paMuhacha?
paMuhacha means "under the muhacha tree". In Zimbabwean culture the muhacha was the tree where lovers met - a known place, in the open, under a wide canopy. But nobody walked to that tree before someone asked properly: where do you come from, who are your people, what are you here for. That asking was the aunt's work. We are named for the place, not for any one people. The name carries the whole model in two words - the meeting is public, and the asking comes first.
Which countries is paMuhacha for?
paMuhacha opens in Botswana, South Africa, Zimbabwe and Zambia. These are the countries where our aunts sit and where the families they can reach are found, so these are the countries we can do this properly in for now. If you are outside them you are welcome to read, but wait for us rather than enter - an introduction is only as good as the aunt who can actually make it.
Why aunts, and not uncles?
Because the aunt is the one who actually does this. She is the one who sits with the woman, asks the real questions, and speaks to the other side. That is her role in our culture, and it always has been. The uncle comes in later, and his part is the negotiation and the cattle - not the matching. paMuhacha does not invent a new role. It restores the one that already exists, and gives her the tools to do it well and be paid for it.
When do introductions start?
15 September 2026. The doors are open now so the aunts have real backgrounds to read, and so nobody arrives on the first day to an empty room. Until then the first cohort of aunts is being vetted and trained. Enter now and you are in the room when it opens.
Is this a dating app?
No. There is no swiping, no chat, no messaging between strangers. You are here because you want marriage, and everything goes through the aunt. She stands between two serious people so that no one wastes anyone's time.
Do I have to pay to join?
Entering is free and no one is charged before an aunt has sat with them. When the aunt makes a real introduction, the introduction fee is R100. It is paid by the man, who is the one choosing; the woman is never charged. The fee buys the asking, the sit-down and the introduction - never a match.
How do I know the other person is real?
Two gates, and everyone passes both - the men, the women and the aunts alike. The first is automatic: an emailed code. Nothing you fill in is saved until you type that code back, so a bot that cannot receive email never reaches us at all. Pass it and your entry carries Genuine post. The second gate is a person on our team who checks you off the platform, and then your entry also carries Verified by paMuhacha. Anything without both marks says so on the card.
What neither gate does is check what you wrote about yourself. Your work, your build, your faith, your own words - all of that is declared, and the card says as much. Confirming a code proves a real, contactable person is behind an entry. It does not make what they said true. That is the aunt's work, in conversation.
Will people see my face and my name?
No. On the wall you see who a person is - their build, their faith, their work, their own words - never a face and never a real name. What you share is held by the aunt, and the private things, like income, she keeps in confidence until the moment is right.
What does the aunt actually do?
She reads your intake before she ever speaks to you. She vets both sides. She sits with you - virtually - and asks what a form can never ask: how you carry yourself when you are crossed, what you do when you are angry, how you were raised to handle a disagreement. Nobody ticks a box for temperament honestly, so the aunt listens for it herself. Only then does she introduce you to someone who genuinely fits.
Who can become an aunt?
A married woman - widows included. It is a role that asks for lived wisdom, and it is one you are paid for. If that is you, the desk is open.
